They formed alliances with dragons and enslaved giants by using secrets of magic stolen from the gods in their efforts to increase their own power. With their enslaved giant armies, the armies of Vecna built massive tombs, enormous magical constructs, and staggering monuments, some that survive today, mute testimonies of a mysterious age long past.
The Order of the Eternal Ka
The Order of the Eternal Ka (or "The Amunite Wardens") is a secretive, ancient organization devoted to Amon (whom they revere as a manifestation or chosen vessel of the god Amun, the Hidden One, blended with warrior aspects of Montu or Horus). They have endured for over 4,000 years in your world's timeline, operating in the shadows of empires, deserts, and hidden enclaves. Their symbol is a stylized scarab with outstretched falcon wings, clutching a broken chain—representing resurrection, vigilance, and the cycle of sacrifice.
Core Beliefs and Philosophy
The Wardens view Amon not merely as a cursed immortal but as the Eternal Warrior—a divine instrument bound by the gods to confront existential evils. His repeated deaths and resurrections mirror the sun's journey through the underworld (like Ra's nightly battle) and the scarab's rebirth. They interpret his tragic pattern—victory at the cost of personal loss, loved ones, and companions—as a necessary cosmic balance: light demands shadow, triumph demands sorrow.
They believe his bloodline carries fragments of his divine spark (the ka or life-force), granting latent potential for greatness, resilience, or subtle powers (enhanced longevity, combat intuition, or minor divine magic). Protecting the Asim (his angelic descendants) and the gnoll bloodlines is a sacred duty, as they are living links to Amon's legacy and potential anchors for his resurrections or future alliances.
The Order accepts imperfect knowledge as part of the curse's mystery. Ancient records are fragmentary, prophecies cryptic, and Amon's wanderings unpredictable. They see this as a test of faith and adaptability.
